Welcome to Shrewsbury Sub Aqua Club!
We are a BSAC dive centre (number 0626) based at the Quarry Pool in Shrewsbury.
Members of Shrewsbury Sub Aqua Club have mixed diving abilities, ranging from beginner Ocean Divers to highly skilled Technical Divers, many of whom regularly take part in the calendar of dives and social events frequently organised by the club.
We have a group of friendly and experienced instructors who take our divers through various training courses and qualifications, and there are additional skills development courses such as charterwork and boat handling on offer to members.
WHERE WE ARE
Shrewsbury Sub Aqua Club meet every Thursday night from 7.30pm in the upstairs cafe at The Quarry Pool in Shrewsbury, and afterwards in the Bucks Head pub in Frankwell from around 9pm.
Lectures and pool training all takes place in the Quarry centre, while we visit a wide range of locations to do open water dives.

HOW TO FIND US:

They are BSAC (the British Sub Aqua Club), which is the sport’s National Governing Body, and PADI (the Professional Association of Diving Instructors), which is an international body widely recognised in this country and around the world.
Shrewsbury Sub Aqua Club is a BSAC-run club, and our training falls in line with BSAC guidelines and practises.
Based at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, BSAC is the UK’s leading diver training agency that offers a comprehensive range of training courses for different diver grades, as well as snorkelling qualifications.
When you join Shrewsbury Sub Aqua Club, you will also have to join BSAC (membership is purchased on an annual basis), which offers a wide range of member benefits including a monthly dive magazine.
Although PADI is very widely recognised, many consider BSAC training to be more thorough and comprehensive, with a strong emphasis on rescue skills from the first qualification.
The BSAC scuba qualifications are:
- Ocean Diver: Basic scuba skills and non-decompression diving to a maximum depth of 20 metres.
- Sports Diver: Rescue and decompression diving to a maximum depth of 35 metres.
- Dive Leader: Dive leading, marshalling and rescue management to a maximum depth of 50 metres.
- Advanced Diver: Fully-trained diver capable of leading a group of divers in normal activities.
- First class Diver – Trained to lead a group of dives carrying out a project.
There are also eight further instructor qualifications, ranging from Assistant Diving Instructor helping to train others under supervision, to National Instructor leading training courses and BSAC National exams.
As well as the courses and qualifications mentioned above, BSAC offer a range of additional skills courses, which include:
- First Aid
- Oxygen Administration

- Search and Recovery
